Fall Starts Here: Your Guide to September in Marietta

As summer begins to wind down and the first hints of fall arrive, September is the perfect time to get out and experience all Marietta has to offer. From outdoor events and live entertainment to local dining, shopping and scenic spots to enjoy the changing season, there’s plenty to discover throughout the month. Whether you’re planning a weekend visit or looking for a new way to experience your hometown, here’s your guide to September in Marietta.

It’s a “-Ber” Month, Get Yourself that Pumpkin Spice Latte

There is no shortage in local coffee in Marietta, from Tuesday & Cool Beans on the Square, to Sessions Stand off the Square. They all have something unique to offer, whether it’s locally roasted beans, post-midnight coffee (hello Terminus 72, our newest coffee shop!) or a literal year-round halloween-inspired coffee emporium (Mr. Tombstones).

Yes, it’s still in the 90’s outside, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to manifest all-things-fall.

Get Outside and Explore

September is a really unique time to visit Kennesaw Mountain, as they have their 9/11 Field of Flags on display. These flags go on display in late-August and stand tall through September 19th. Each flag is representative of one life lost during the September 11th attacks in 2001. With 2,977 flags, this is a sight to be seen in-person to really take it in. There will be an additional memorial ceremony taking place on September 11th.

If you miss this window, it’s still a lovely time to visit the mountain. With a paved pedestrian and bike road (approximately 1.5 miles one way) to the top of the mountain for a beautiful view and additional hiking trails throughout the park, it is a treasured, local gem.

Fall in Marietta Means Festival Season is Here!

From the 40th annual Art in the Park filling Historic Marietta Square with incredible art and creativity over Labor Day Weekend to the North Georgia State Fair bringing classic fall fun later in the month, September is packed with reasons to get outside and celebrate.

And the festivities don’t stop there – October brings beloved favorites like ChalktoberFest and HarvestFest, making Marietta the perfect place to welcome the season.

Come Hungry to the North Georgia State Fair

From deep-fried favorites and giant turkey legs to funnel cakes and fried Oreos, there’s no shortage of treats to try as you make your way through the fairgrounds. Visit during the day to take your time, ride all the rides, play all the games, check out the livestock exhibits and more.

Or come after sunset when the midway lights up and the atmosphere feels extra magical. Whether you’re chasing the thrill of the rides, looking for the perfect fair feast, or simply soaking in the fall vibes, the North Georgia State Fair is a tradition worth making time for.
