Michael K. Shaffer, Civil War Historian, instructor, lecturer, columnist and author will be giving a special talk about his new book “Day by Day through the Civil War in Georgia” as well as a book signing. Thursday, March 10th at 6:30pm. This event is in- person with a virtual option. The virtual option is purchased through Facebook.
Until now, a daily account (1,630 days) of Georgia’s social, political, economic, and military events during the CW did not exist. During the 160 years since the conflict’s termination, many fine accounts of wartime Georgia have rolled off various presses. With this effort, Michael Shaffer strikes a balance between the combatants while remembering the struggles of enslaved persons, folks on the home front, and merchants and clergy attempting to maintain some sense of normalcy.
