If you’re a fan of murals, this iconic Marietta mural should be your first stop for the perfect Instagram photo.

Location: Marietta Square Market, 68 North Marietta Pkwy NW

Take a hike in Sope Creek Park to the Civil War-era paper mill ruins. Snap pictures along the scenic trail, then capture the perfect shot at this multi-story castlelike ruins towering the adjacent creek.

  • The Big Chicken

You can’t miss a stop at the Big Chicken! There’s something unique about this most popular Marietta landmark at a local Kentucky Fried Chicken. Tourists come for a photo-op with the 56-foot tall chicken with moving eyes and beak. Locals use it to give directions (“Turn left at the Big Chicken.”)

Head to the roof of the Strand for the best view of the Square, especially at sunset. It’s a classic backdrop for any photo. Then enjoy a drink and get another photo in Lumière Lounge, the silent-film themed piano bar on the second floor.

Want the most epic photo in the area? Add Kennesaw Mountain to your list. While technically it’s not in Marietta, it shouldn’t be missed. It offers a beautiful view of Stone Mountain, downtown Atlanta and more. After hiking or driving to the summit for the view, snap an obligatory photo.
